Latency is the time between the VPS and the broker trading server. For swing trading and lower-frequency systems, stability usually matters more than ultra-low ping.
For scalping, news trading, arbitrage-style systems and fast copy trading, choose a VPS close to the broker server and measure ping before deciding.
Expert Advisors only run while the trading platform is open and connected. Use a VPS so MT4 or MT5 can stay online when your local computer is off, sleeping, disconnected or rebooting.
A VPS improves availability and consistency. It does not fix poor strategy logic, bad risk management or broker-side execution problems.
